Walking activity - olhe pelas suas costas

SPOT will organise this walk on 8 November at 8:00 a.m., aiming to raise awareness among the public about various spinal conditions. This initiative is supported by the Loulé City Council and will start at the entrance of the Vilamoura Congress Centre.
In Portugal, around one million people suffer from back pain, making it the second leading cause of visits to hospital emergency departments. Such pain can occur in different regions of the spine and vary in intensity and frequency. Lower back pain is the most common, although neck and upper back pain are also widespread.
Regular physical exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and combating a sedentary lifestyle are key measures to preserve spinal health, reduce pain, and often prevent the need for surgery.
The "Olhe pelas Suas Costas" (Take Care of Your Back) campaign is a public awareness initiative focused on spinal health. Its main objectives are to educate the Portuguese population about the most common spinal conditions, promote preventive measures, raise awareness of the impact of back pain on personal and professional life, and provide guidance on available treatments. All information is delivered by healthcare professionals, clarifying terms and concepts that are often unfamiliar to the public.
