Abstract submission is now open

The deadline for submitting abstracts has been extended to May 30, 2024 at 23:59h (UTC+0).

Type of abstracts

You must select your preference between Free Communication, Clinical Case or e-Poster.

Submissions are accepted in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

Free Communication:

Free communications to be presented at the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology are selected by a jury designated for this purpose, chosen by the organizers of SPOT structures and the Scientific Committee of the Congress.

Clinical cases should not be submitted as free communications.

Clinical Case:

If you have a clinical case that you want to present orally, you should submit it for this type of presentation, as there will be specific sessions for the presentation of clinical cases.

E-Posters:

The highest-rated E-Poster abstracts will be presented during the E-Poster Tours and are candidates for the Best E-Poster Award.

Upon acceptance notification of an E-Poster, the author will also receive the template in which they should prepare the E-Poster, in a 16:9 vertical format, to be uploaded to the platform provided for this purpose by October 15, 2024.

Submission Rules

Only original papers will be accepted, with authors committing that they have not been previously presented.

Presenting authors must be registered for the Meeting.

The submitting author must be the presenting author ("the author that submits the abstract = the author who will present it"). All communication related to the abstract will be sent by the Secretariat to the e-mail of the presenting author.

Submission Method

Abstracts must be submitted using the platform available for this purpose.

Abstracts submitted by any other means will not be accepted.

Each abstract must have associated the name of the first author, telephone number and email.

Authors can edit abstracts at any time, up to the submission deadline - May 30, 2024.

Upon submiting the abstract, authors will be receive an e-mail confirming this action. If you don't receive confirmation within 24 hours, please check your spam folder. If you do not receive the confirmation e-mail, please contact the secretariat via e-mail congressospot@leading.pt

Contents of the Abstract

In order to guarantee a blind review, the abstract title and/or text must not contain information about the authors or their affiliation. If this situation occurs, the abstract will be rejected by the Scientific Committee. The authors' identification must be done only in the submissions fields for that specific purpose.

Certificates

Certificates will be sent by email after the Meeting.

Evaluation of abstracts

1. The evaluation of abstracts will be carried out by reviewers to be appointed, from among the members of the Scientific Committee;

2. To evaluate the abstracts, the following criteria will be taken into account:

  • Compliance with the guidelines of the Regulations (Introduction, Objectives, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Bibliographic References and Keywords);
  • Relevance of the study for the development of the specialty area;
  • Quality of the writing and organization of the text;
  • Scientific quality and rigor;
  • Applicability of results and impact.

3. The Scientific Committee reserves the right not to accept the abstract, if the indicated rules are not complied with and/or it is not qualified to be presented at the event;

4. There will be no appeal against the decision of the Scientific Committee;
